Black Belt Club

The Black Belt Club is a special invitation-only club in which the main objective is to attain the level of black belt.  You must be a minimum rank of orange belt and sponsored by an instructor.

With your entrance into the club you receive the special Black Belt Club uniform, along with a custom embroidered black belt.  This belt is proudly displayed on our Black Belt Club Wall and advances through the ranks as you advance in rank.

This is an inspiration to train hard every time you come to the dojo and to be the best you can be.  Some of the additional training involves special classes such as weapons, grappling and traditional kata classes.  Joining the Black Belt Club means you are serious about your art, and this is why we always look to our Black Belt Club for groups such as Team Leaders, Demonstration Team and Competition Team.

Commitment is what it’s all about, and it all starts with our Black Belt Club.

Team Leaders

Our Team Leaders is a group of students that have to be recommended by an instructor and pass an application process to be part of this team.  In order to be sponsored by an instructor, you must have excellent attendance, technique and an overall excitement for martial arts.  Once you are part of this team you are assigned to a class as an assistant instructor.  Your responsibilities will involve stretching the class, keeping training equipment on hand and teaching class from time to time.  Our leaders also have responsibilities off the floor, such as keeping order in the dojo, taking student attendance and answering the telephone.  This is a great program for teaching the students to be responsible, caring and disciplined.  All of these attributes are achieved while in a controlled environment and as not to make the students nervous or uncomfortable while they are getting used to all these new ventures.

Team Leaders:

Li’l Pups: Edward Skeffington, Kaylee Tremblay;

Little Eagles: Nicole Pawell, Rusty Darcy, Mike Affannato and Mario Mastro, III

Demonstration Team

The TAMA Dojo Demonstration Team has had many different faces over the years.

The team has performed for the Winterfest in Whitman, Whitman-Hanson Educational Foundation, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, as well as Christmas parties and holiday parties at the dojo and away from the dojo..

The team is always working on new material and routines to keep our demonstrations fresh and exciting.

Our demonstrations consist of fighting, forms, weapons forms, dynamic weapons, self defense and musical/theatrical routines.

The students put in many hours of practice in addition to their regular classes and other clubs or teams they may be involved in.

It sounds like a lot, and it is, but they do it because it is a fun and rewarding experience.

There is nothing like the applause of an audience, and that’s what makes it all worth while for these students.

Please come out and support the TAMA Dojo Demonstration Team.

Thank you
Shihan Mario
